Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC 1, 2, 3, 4)

The Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course trains security and executive protection professionals to provide immediate, effective medical intervention in high-threat and tactical environments. Over 32 hours of instruction across four dedicated training days, students learn the clinical skills, decision-making frameworks, and hands-on techniques required to keep people alive when conventional emergency services are not yet on scene.

In a serious incident — a gunshot wound, a traumatic injury, a medical crisis during an active threat — the first person on scene is often the most important person. TECC prepares security professionals to fill that role with skill and composure. This course is not basic first aid. It is a serious, operationally-grounded emergency medicine curriculum adapted for the realities of the security environment.

The course is structured around three phases of tactical care: Direct Threat Care (actions taken while under fire or immediate threat), Indirect Threat Care (actions taken once the immediate threat is controlled), and Tactical Evacuation Care (preparation for patient handoff and transport). Students master the P-MARCH-P assessment framework and learn to apply it rapidly under simulated pressure.

Hands-on skills developed throughout the course include tourniquet application, airway management using nasopharyngeal airways (NPAs), hemorrhage control, wound tracking, splinting, and care for overdose and dehydration. Students also practice patient drags and carries — the physical skills required to move a casualty out of the threat zone.

The program includes multiple full scenario exercises across Days 2, 3, and 4, culminating in an all-day TECC scenario training session. A 25-question written examination and practical exam must both be passed at 70% or higher for course completion.
