Advanced Executive Protection

Operate at the highest level of executive protection.

The Advanced Executive Protection course is the culmination of Pacific West Academy’s EP curriculum — a 24-hour deep dive into surveillance, counter-surveillance, advance work, contractor operations, and tactical light applications. Designed for agents who have completed their foundational EP training, this course develops the sophisticated skills and operational mindset required to work at the highest levels of the executive protection profession.

At the advanced level, executive protection is as much about intelligence and preparation as it is about physical presence. This course trains students to think like both the protector and the threat — understanding how attacks on protection details are planned and executed in order to build more effective defenses against them.

The course begins with a comprehensive study of surveillance: foot surveillance, vehicle surveillance, and fixed-point counter-surveillance operations. Students learn to identify surveillance activity, conduct their own surveillance detection routes, and apply counter-surveillance strategies to protect a detail from being targeted.

The advance module covers the full scope of pre-operation planning — from electronic advance research to the physical advance checklist used at hotels, venues, and common EP locations. Students develop the ability to identify vulnerabilities, develop contingency plans, and brief their team with precision.

Contractor operations and specialized mobile security contracts are addressed, followed by an in-depth module on tactical white light — an increasingly important capability in protective operations. Students learn the optics of light, the differences between lumens and candela, and how to select and employ handheld and weapon-mounted lights in defensive applications, backed by practical simulator scenarios.

All practical exercises must be passed at a 70% or higher standard.

Advanced Executive Protection (EP 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) — Students Will Learn:

• Foot, vehicle, and fixed-point surveillance techniques.
• Counter-surveillance strategies and detection routes.
• Electronic and physical advance planning.
• Advance checklists for EP-relevant locations.
• Contractor and mobile security operations.
• Tactical white light — selection, application, and simulator scenarios.
• Attack planning from the adversary’s perspective.
