Executive Protection Training Admissions Requirements

Pacific West Academy’s Certified Executive Security Specialist (CESS) program is open to applicants with no prior security or military experience. This page lists what is required to be admitted, and the steps of the admissions process.

Admission requirements

• No prior experience required. You do not need previous security, law enforcement or military experience to apply.
• Age. You must be 18 or older to participate in the training. There is no upper age cutoff.
• High school diploma or GED. A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver’s license. A valid driver’s license is required.
• English. All students must be able to read, write and understand English. Translation is not offered for any language.
• Background check. A background check (Live Scan) is conducted for admission to the CESS program. All felonies result in disqualification. Misdemeanors depend on the severity of the case, and most violent misdemeanors disqualify an applicant. Students must be able to handle firearms in the State of California.
• Physical fitness videos. Three videos are required, described below.

Physical fitness videos

Applicants submit three videos as part of their application:

• 30 push-ups
• 30 sit-ups
• 3 pull-ups

Each video must be completed in one minute or less. No run is required.

The admissions process

1. Submit your requirements. Send in the documents and videos listed above.
2. Schedule your interview. Admissions will arrange a time with you.
3. Complete your interview.
4. Receive your decision. You are notified whether you have been accepted.

Where the program is held

The CESS program is delivered at Pacific West Academy’s Van Nuys, California campus. It is not offered at the San Diego campus.
